Well it has been a roller coaster ride over the last several weeks, and some very exciting times. I took 40 middle school boys camping and caving two weekends ago, and everyone lived. It was a handful, but we had a blast. I love taking them up to the mountains, and even more so down in the caves.
Last week, I was in charge of getting 55 people--most of whom were middle school boys-- up to Washington, D.C. We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Hokusai exhibit at the Sackler Gallery. I have always loved his stuff, and when I saw the Great Wave
I almost cried. I have always loved that print. We hit the Natural History Museum, and the World War II Memorial, and finally the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was a powerful and moving dayy.
This week, my 5th and 6th graders put on "Twelve Angry Men" which is a foundational piece to our curriculum. It teaches civics, philosophy, epistemology, and is a good story to boot.
Yesterday I did a wedding for some church folk, and had a beautiful time at a park here in town. Last night 3 folks joined our congregation, and could not be more excited. We have been busy, but fulfilled. Only three weeks left in school, and perhaps some more time for reflection and stillness. Probably not, but we'll see how intentional I can be.
So... When do you sleep? (wink). Seriously though, Twelve Angry Men for that age group is brilliant! Well done.
Peace,
Jamie
